Our Story
The Building Choices Project (HOME/2015/AMIF/AG/THBX/8902) is co-financed by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), of the Directorate General Migration and Home Affairs, of the European Commission.
The Building Choices Project aims to promote the labour and social integration of women from third countries, who have been victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, in the host society, by designing a transnational intervention model.
This model involves the preparation and implementation of a specific model for labour integration that contribute to the personal empowerment process and the financial independence of these women through wage-employment or entrepreneurship as well as a pilot experience in the city of Madrid.
The model is aimed at trafficked victims who can’t or don’t wish to go back to their country of origin, especially due to the insecurity of the return, the risk of ending up again in human trafficking networks, and being re-trafficked.
Analysis
of intervention models already offered in three European countries (Spain, Romania and Czech Republic) for the labor and social integration in the host country of victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation.
Designing a transnational model
for the social and labor integration of women victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation, whose return is unviable and who are wishing for their complete integration in the host society.
Model validation
through a pilot experience of empowerment and financial independence activities for these women in Madrid. The purpose is to initiate wageemployment processes, entrepreneurship, and creation of social insertion enterprises.
Dissemination and transfer
of what we have learned and the results obtained from the project valuing the adaptability of the model and how other key cities for hosting reacted to it.
Our project aims to contribute by providing a better understanding and involvement of the social setting and proximity services that work on the true integration of the victims of human trafficking.
The ultimate aim is to support the integration and self-sufficiency of the victims that don’t have a true chance of return at the moment. The final intervention model will focus on developing a personal empowerment itinerary, so that these women can reach their financial independence and assure themselves enough and dignified life conditions through wage-employment or entrepreneurship.
